Our History

Our office opened in Bloomington, Illinois with a goal of helping many women through all of their health care concerns. The practice revolved around a core belief in proactive health care; that is talking about potential health care problems before they occur, and adjusting health care decisions to avoid potential problems—thus leading to a longer and happier life. This led to empowering women with reliable health care information so that they could make the best choices for themselves and their future.

As time passed Bloomington grew more and more, and so did the office right along with it! Board-Certified in 1995, Dr. Joe Santiago joined the practice in 1999, bringing new ideas and techniques to an experienced practice. Teamwork and enthusiasm towards women's health care led to continued growth of our office family. Staff members were brought into the practice who shared the belief that each individual's medical treatment and overall satisfaction was a top priority. This dedication to teamwork has led to continued growth of the practice.

Late in 2004 the practice grew with the addition of Vicki Voegel, Certified Physician's Assistant. Vicki is both an experienced and dedicated professional of women's healthcare expertise since 1988. She enjoys working in obstetrics, general gynecology, and adolescent gynecology. She is also pleasant, kind, and sincere; qualities that really help to put her patients at ease. Her addition to our office family has been a tremendous blessing, but the practice found it needed help from another provider as well, so the search was launched.

Our practice welcomed Sara Leeper, APN, CNM, WHNP, to the staff in the summer of 2008. Sara is certified as a nurse midwife and women's health nurse practitioner, and will be providing general women's health care as well as obstetric services. Sara is very interested in providing the options of natural birth and water births. She wants to provide a supportive approach to birth, providing the information and one-on-one care that women need, especially those giving birth for the first time. Sara also provides complete care for women through their life spans. She has a special interest in providing whole life care, and helping women learn how their children and family impact their health. She also serves as the physicians’ certified surgical assistant. This includes c-sections and gynecological surgeries. She has been a registered nurse since 1993, and has experience in both the hospital and physician office settings.
